Marin Ireland joins the race for Marvel’s Jessica Jones

November 20, 2014 by James Garcia

On Wednesday we were given a shortlist of actresses up for the lead role in Marvel’s upcoming Jessica Jones Netflix series, and now we have one more name to add to the list of contenders. Deadline has updated their original post, and now cites The Divide, I Am Legend, and Homeland actress Marin Ireland as being in the mix for the coveted role.

Ireland joins previously-reported actresses Alexandra Daddario (True Detective), Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad), Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies) and Jessica De Gouw (Arrow).

Based on Brian Michael Bendis’ Alias comic book series, Jessica Jones is being spearheaded by former Dexter showrunner and Twilight screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg and will deal with a former superhero suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, who hung up her costume and opened her own detective agency, where she lends a helping hand to people and assists other superheroes.

There’s no release date yet for the series, but it’s expected to air after Daredevil, which debuts on Netflix next year.
