Mark Wahlberg’s The Six Billion Dollar Man loses its director

May 13, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Having set a May 2019 release date this past March, the long-gestating The Six Billion Dollar Man has hit another stumbling block with Deadline reporting that filmmaker Damian Szifron has left the project due to creative differences with Warner Bros.

Originally set up at Dimension before moving to Warner Bros., the big screen adaptation of the classic TV series The Six Million Dollar Man has spent many years in development, with Szifron boarding the project three years ago. The Wild Tales director was apparently let go due to issues with his script, and “a language barrier”.

Filming on The Six Billion Dollar Man was originally scheduled to get underway this summer ahead of a May 31st 2019 release date, so it remains to be seen whether Warner Bros. will look to bring in a new director to stick to that date, or reshuffle its plans once again.

In addition to Mark Wahlberg, who is set to take on the Lee Majors role of Colonel Steve Austin, it has also been rumoured recently that Wahlberg was pushing for his Daddy’s Home 2 co-star Mel Gibson to join the cast.
