The Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently careening head-first towards the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga with Avengers: Doomsday and the presumably soft-rebooting Avengers: Secret Wars, but after annoucing the first big screen projects from Phase Seven of the MCU (a.k.a. the opening chapter of the ‘Mutant Saga’) by announcing X-Men, Black Panther III and Ghost Rider earlier this summer, Marvel Studios has now given fans a taste at what we can expect to see from its small screen side on Disney+ during its New York Comic Con presentation.
Appearing at the aptly titled ‘Up Next From Marvel Television and Marvel Animation’ panel on Friday, Marvel’s Brad Winderbaum offers fans in attendance sneak peeks at the upcoming second season of Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man and third season of X-Men ’97, as well as confirming reports that the upcoming third season of Daredevil: Born Again will be the series’ last.
It wasn’t all bad news however, as Winderbaum dropped a surprise announcement for a new live-actiob series entitled Zodiac, which he described as a “spy thriller” that will shoot in the spring ahead of a 2028 premiere. Winderbaum offered little else in the way of details on the series, although he did suggest that “if you’re a fan of the comics, there is a lot hidden in that logo”, which immediately prompted speculation about some form of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. continuation, given the prominent Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division logo with the ‘A’.
Meanwhile, as well as the previously announced second season of the animated What If…? spinoff, Marvel Zombies fans will also have a trio of two-part animated Halloween specials to look forward to across the next three years, with Marvel Zombies: The Winter Soldier premiering in 2027, followed by Marvel Zombies: The Fist of Khonshu in 2028 and Marvel Zombies: The Last Guardian in 2029. Aside from the obvious Bucky Barnes, Moon Knight and Guardians of the Galaxy connections, we’ll need to wait for more details.
