Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy videos explore combat and exploration

September 24, 2021 by Andrew Newton

Eidos-Montréal has today released two new videos for their upcoming Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy with both including insights from Senior Gameplay Director Patrick Fortier.  In the first of these videos viewers can see how the Guardians tackle combat while the second focuses on how players will be able to lead the Guardians outside of battle.  You can watch these videos below…

In combat the Guardians each use their own unique abilities and specialities that they can use on the battlefield.  These abilities can be used to take down the large amount of different enemies that will be encountered on their journey.  The Guardians’ abilities match what we know about the heroes: Rocket, being the lover of things that go boom, is the group’s multi-target explosive specialist, Groot works as a protector and healer, Gamora is a high-damage assassin who performs excellently against single targets, Drax is a complete wrecking ball and Star-Lord has his skills as a leader.

Players will also have the opportunity to lead the heroes outside of combat as they journey to and from a number of different iconic locations on the Milano.  While leading the Guardians, players will need to make choices and deal with any consequences that comes about from their actions.  How to approach conversations, allocating ability points, choosing between comic accurate outfits for the team and many more all require decisions to be made and nearly all will have consequences.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will release on 26th October on Playstation and Xbox consoles and PC.  It will also be available as a Cloud version on Nintendo Switch and stream on GeForce NOW on the same date.
