Marvel’s Hawkeye Disney+ show enlists its directors

July 18, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Having been pushed back from its original 2021 date to the following year, it looks like Marvel’s Hawkeye is now getting itself on track and clicking into gear, with THR reporting that Marvel Studios has enlisted its directors for the Jeremy Renner-led series.

As revealed by the trade, Dance Camp and Troop Zero’s Bert and Bertie (a.k.a. Amber Finlayson and Katie Ellwood) have signed on to direct a block of episodes for Hawkeye, as has Rhys Thomas (Staten Island Summer, Comrade Detective). Jonathan Igla (Mad Men, Pitch) is writing the series and serving as showrunner.

Jeremy Renner remains on board to reprise his MCU role as Clint Barton, while the series will also introduce the character of Kate Bishop, his successor as Hakweye in the Marvel comic book continuity.

Hailee Steinfeld is said to have been offered the role of Kate Bishop back in 2019, although her involvement is unclear at this point in time given the production delays.

Hawkeye is currently slated to hit Disney+ in 2022, alongside Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk and Moon Knight. Before we get to them however, we have three other live-action Marvel shows to look forward to on the streamer in WandaVision, Loki and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the latter of which has just been delayed from its August premiere date due to this year’s global production shutdowns.
