As part of Amazon MGM Studios’ presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas yesterday, iconic actor and filmmaker Mel Brooks appeared via a pre-taped video message to officially announce the title for the upcoming Spaceballs sequel – and no, sadly, it’s not the long-promised The Search for More Money, but rather Spaceballs: The New One. Here’s Mr. Brooks himself with the reveal…
The follow-up to Brooks’ classic 1987 spoof is being directed by Josh Greenbaum (Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar), from a script by Josh Gad, Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit. Brooks will be back as Yogurt and President Skroob, while Rick Moranis comes out of retirement to reprise the role of Lord Dark Helmet, reuniting with Bill Pullman (Lone Starr), Daphne Zuniga (Queen Vespa) and George Wyner (Colonel Sandurz).
Alongside the returning cast from the original film, new additions to the Spaceballs galaxy include Lewis Pullman as Starburst, the son of Lone Starr and Vespa, along with Keke Palmer as Destiny, and Josh Gad and Anthony Carrigan in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
Spaceballs: The New One is coming to theaters on April 23rd 2027.
