Mel Gibson and Sean Penn star in trailer for The Professor and the Madman

The first trailer has been released for director Farhad Safinia’s biographical drama The Professor and the Madman. Based on Simon Winchester’s book The Surgeon of Crowthorne, the film stars Mel Gibson as Lexicographer Professor James Murray who in 1857 began to compile the Oxford English dictionary with the help of asylum inmate William Minor, played by Sean Penn; watch the trailer here…

The Professor and the Madman features a cast that also includes Natalie Dormer (Game of thrones), Ioan Gruffudd (Forever), Jeremy Irvine (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again), Steve Coogan (Stan & Ollie), Laurence Fox (Lewis) and Jennifer Ehle (The Miseducation of Cameron Post).
