More returning stars join Veronica Mars revival as Kristen Bell says to expect “much darker” show

September 29, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Last week it was confirmed that Veronica Mars is heading back to the small screen with Kristen Bell set to reprise her role for a new eight-episode season on streaming service Hulu.

Taking to Twitter this week, creator Rob Thomas has now revealed that Bell will be joined in the cast of the new season by fellow returnees Jason Dohring (Logan), Francis Capra (Weevil), Percy Daggs III (Wallace) and David Starzyk (Richard Casablancas). More castings are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Kristen Bell has warned fans to expect a very different show when Veronica Mars returns, stating that:

“It’s gonna be a much darker world, it’s going to be a bigger world, it’s definitely not what we did on UPN or The CW, so I want to brace fans for that, that it’s going to be darker and bigger and more cinematic, a little bit different. Particularly now, you want to see a girl who’s fighting for good. You want to see a superhero without a cape who has nothing at her fingertips but her wit and her intellect. You want to see her better the world around her. People want to see a hero again.”

The new season of Veronica Mars is expected to arrive on Hulu in 2019.
