Natalie Portman’s Mighty Thor makes a big splash in first trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder

April 18, 2022 by EJ Moreno

After months of “when will the trailer drop?” conversations, we now have our first official look at Thor: Love and Thunder. The upcoming Taika Waititi-directed Marvel film looks to be another cosmic and campy adventure with the God of Thunder. This time though, he’s not only joined by the Guardians of the Galaxy but also Jane Foster who is donning a new look.

Yes, Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster makes her return to the MCU with a massive upgrade. She will be wielding Mjolnir and wearing a traditional Thor outfit. Many will recognize this from the comic book run, but for newcomers, this will likely be a huge leap for them. Let’s see if Waititi and the company can pull it off.

Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Love and Thunder” finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Thor: Ragnarok helmer Taika Waititi, who also reprises his on-screen role as Korg, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), alongside the returning Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax) and Sean Gunn (Kraglin), with Christian Bale (Ford v Ferrari) as Gorr the God Butcher and Russell Crowe (Man of Steel) as Zeus.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set for release on July 8th, 2022.
