New issues of Commando to bring excitement and adventure this week

December 16, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Commando comics have always been filled with excitement as brave soldiers go face-to-face against overwhelming odds, and there’s more excitement, adventure and derring-do coming on 18th December with four action-packed issues.

First up is issue 5915 (Home of Heroes): Crocker’s Crew by Brent Towns, with art by Paolo Ongaro. In this issue, Captain Matt Crocker of the British Commandos and his team, are sent to infiltrate and destroy a Nazi-occupied power plant. However, they didn’t anticipate the SOE’s mysterious Captain Berry insisting on joining them, and now Crocker is worrying if there is an ulterior motive.

Issue 5916 (Gold): Mighty Maguire is one of the classic stories first published in 1971. Written by Richardson, with art by Franch, this issue follows Tom Maguire, an avid collector of practically anything. When war arrives, Tom is sent to Burma, and his old habits continue as he begins to start collecting the fierce Kachin tribesmen. The Japanese forces aren’t going to know what hit them.

In issue 5917 (For Action and Adventure): Union Jack Jackson: Kamikaze Ken, Union Jack Jackson and his comrades are on a mission to steal an experimental radar receiver from the Japanese. But when their escape ship is destroyed by Japanese suicide pilots, Jackson can’t help but wonder why one of these suicidal pilots is alive and well and floating in the sea beside him.

This issue is written by Dominic Teague, with art by Esteve Polls.

Finally, in issue 5918 (Silver): The Short and The Tall, Private Danny Miller was one of those smaller fellas that is tough as nails and can cope with almost anything. What he can’t cope with is his friend Brian, a man determined to pay Danny back for saving his life, as Brian’s plans always cause more trouble.

The Short and the Tall was first published in 1984 as issue 1848, and was written by Motton, with artwork by Gordon C Livingstone.
