New trailer for Women Talking starring Rooney Mara, Claire Foy, Jessie Buckley and Frances McDormand

December 15, 2022 by Amie Cranswick

MGM has released a poster and trailer for writer-director Sarah Polley’s critically-acclaimed drama Women Talking.

Based on Miriam Toews’ book of the same name, the film centres on a group of women from a remote Mennonite community as they struggle to reconcile with the brutal reality of their faith, and grapple with the decision of confronting the horrible truth and leaving, or staying and forgiving the vicious assaults, as is expected of them.

In a remote Mennonite community, women have been waking from sleep bruised and battered, some are pregnant. Religious leaders argue it’s God’s punishment for their sins. But when one wakes to find an attacker in her room, the horrible truth comes out. In a sunlit barn, the women debate: will they stay, as is expected, and forgive their attackers?

Featuring in the cast of Women Talking ares Rooney Mara, Claire Foy, Jessie Buckley, Judith Ivey, Ben Whishaw and Frances McDormand.
