Nickelodeon sets cast for Are You Afraid of the Dark? revival

June 13, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Nickelodeon has assembled its new Midnight Society for the upcoming limited series revival of the classic children’s horror anthology series Are You Afraid of the Dark?.

According to the trade, Sam Ashe Arnold (Best.Worst.Weekend.Ever.), Miya Cech (Rim of the World), Tamara Smart (Artemis Fowl), and Jeremy Taylor (It), Lyliana Wray (Top Gun: Maverick) will portray the new Midnight Society, a group of kids who tell a terrifying tale about the Carnival of Doom, only for the story to come to life. Rafael Casal (Blindspotting) is also on board to star as Mr. Tophat, the ringmaster of the carnival.

Are You Afraid of the Dark? is being directed by Dean Israelite (Power Rangers) from a script by BenDavid Grabinski (Skiptrace) and is expected to premiere in time for Halloween this October.

Meanwhile, in addition to the three-episode series revival, Nickelodeon is also teaming with Paramount for an Are You Afraid of the Dark? theatrical film, which has D.J. Caruso (Disturbia) directing and Gary Dauberman (Annabelle) writing. That too was originally scheduled for release in October, but has subsequently been delayed.
