Noah Centineo to play Atom Smasher in DC’s Black Adam

Noah Centineo (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, Charlie’s Angels) is joining the DC Extended Universe as the actor will take on the role of Atom Smasher in the upcoming Dwayne Johnson-led Black Adam, as per The Hollywood Reporter.

Atom Smasher is a long-running DC villain who can control his molecular structure, giving him the ability to manipulate his size and strength. The character previously appeared in an episode of The CW’s The Flash, played by Adam Copeland. Black Adam will mark the first time Atom Smasher appears on the big screen.

Director Jaume Collet-Serra will pair up with Dwayne Johnson again, following their upcoming Disney film Jungle Cruise. Adam Sztykiel wrote the current script for the project as well. This film will mark the second pairing between New Line Cinema and DC Films following 2019’s Shazam!.

Little is known about the film at this point, but will presumably explore the origin of Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam, a character who has roots in ancient Egypt, and possesses magical powers similar to those of Zachary Levi’s Shazam.

Black Adam is currently slated for a December 22nd, 2021 release.
