Noah Jupe and Caitriona Balfe join James Mangold’s Ford vs. Ferrari movie

May 25, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Back in February it was revealed that Logan’s James Mangold is to reunite with 20th Century Fox for an as-yet-untitled Ford vs. Ferrari movie, and now we have word on two additions to the cast.

THR is reporting that Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place) and Caitriona Balfe (Outlander) have both joined the film and will star alongside the previously Christian Bale and Matt Damon.

The movie will “follow an eccentric, determined team of American engineers and designers, led by automotive visionary Carroll Shelby (Damon) and his British driver, Ken Miles (Bale), who are dispatched by Henry Ford II with the mission of building from scratch an entirely new automobile with the potential to finally defeat the perennially dominant Ferrari at the 1966 Le Mans World Championship.”

Balfe will portray the wife of Bale’s Miles, with Jupe starring as his son, who fears for his dad’s safety on the race track.

Filming on the movie is slated to get underway this summer, with Mangold then following the project with the freshly announced Boba Fett Star Wars spinoff for Disney and Lucasfilm.

Jupe is currently shooting the Shia LaBeouf biopic Honey Boy, while Balfe is reprising her BAFTA-winning and Golden Globe-nominated role for filming on the fourth season of Starz’s Outlander.
