This second part of the trilogy, written by Lauren Mooney and Stewart Pringle, takes this deformed version of the Master across the canals and through the great halls of 18th-century Venice in search of someone whom he once made a pact with – the Venetian mask-maker Lupo.
The genius of Lupo is well spoken of in the ballrooms of Venice, he is the greatest mask-maker in the Republic’s history, and his delicate brushwork is highly sought after by the wealthy. But Lupo has a dark past, one that takes him back to his secret life on Gallifrey, and it is here that he made a pact with a very dangerous opponent. Now that foe is coming for him, along those ancient skiproads to destroy everything that Lupo has created for himself.
