Penny Dreadful: City of Angels adds Piper Perabo

August 17, 2019 by Gary Collinson

The upcoming Penny Dreadful spinoff City of Angels has added Golden Globe-nominated actress Piper Perabo, with THR reporting that the Covert Affairs star has been cast in a recurring role in the Showtime series.

Created by John Logan and described as a “spiritual descendant” of Penny Dreadful, series will take place in pre-WWII Los Angeles, and will explore the City of Angels “from the building of the city’s first freeways and its deep traditions of Mexican-American folklore to the dangerous espionage actions of the Third Reich and the rise of radio evangelism — and, of course, a healthy dose of the supernatural.”

Perabo is set to portray a character called Linda Craft, wife of Dr. Peter Craft (Rory Kinnear) and mother to Trevor (Hudson West) and Tom (Julian Hilliard), who is described as “a fading American Beauty rose” and is dissatisfied by both her marriage and life in the suburbs.

Filming on Penny Dreadful: City of Angels is scheduled to begin this month, with a stacked cast that also includes Daniel Zovatto, Natalie Dormer, Nathan Lane, Kerry Bishé, Johnathan Nieves, Jessica Garza, Adriana Barraza, Michael Gladis. Amy Madigan, Brent Spiner, Lorenza Izzo, Lin Shaye and Adam Rodriguez.
