Razzies: 2015 Golden Raspberry Award nominations announced

January 14, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

With many of Hollywood’s finest busy on the awards season circuit, it wouldn’t be the same without the end of year Razzie nominations, which looks at those films that didn’t set the world alight in 2014.

It’s perhaps no surprise that it’s Michael Bay’s fourth Transformers film, Age of Extinction, that leads the way with seven Razzie nominations, including Worst Picture despite its worldwide box-office gross of over $1 billion. Bay himself is nominated for Worst Director, as well as Worst Screenplay.

Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas and The Legend of Hercules are just behind Transformers with six nominations, and join Nicholas Cage’s Left Behind and another Michael Bay production, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, in the Worst Picture category.

It’s also been another bad year for Cameron Diaz, who had three films underwhelm this year, and is nominated for Worst Actress for Sex Tape and The Other Woman, as well as Worst Supporting Actress for Annie.

And it’s no surprise either that Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane features prominently for his comedy Western A Million Ways to Die in the West. He joins Bay in the Worst Director category, and joins co-star Charlize Theron in the Worst Screen Combo category. Oscar winner Theron is also nominated for Worst Actress.

This year also sees a new category up for voting, the Redeemer Award, which recognises those Razzie winners and nominees from previous years that have had much better years. Jennifer Aniston, Ben Affleck, Kristen Stewart, Keanu Reeves and Mike Myers will battle it out for that one.
