Retro classic Shadow of the Ninja is to be Reborn for PC and consoles

January 26, 2024 by Andrew Newton

ININ has announced that pre-orders are now available for the Limited and Collector’s Editions of Shadow of the Ninja – Reborn, the remake of the classic 1990 Shadow of the Ninja (released in Europe and Australia under the name Blue Shadow in 1991).  This remake will have an improved combat system, a new level, a tasty 16-bit style and an epic soundtrack by Iku Mizutani.  For a comparison between the original and remake, watch the new trailer below….

Shadow of the Ninja – Reborn will put players in the shoes of the heroic Hayate and Kaede as they travel to the USA to take down the evil emperor Garuda.  Emperor Garuda has conquered the United States of America and has built his stronghold in the middle of the biggest and most populated city.  Our brave and fearless ninjas need to infiltrate the despot’s well defended stronghold and kill him.

Players will be able to take on Garuda’s hordes in stunning high quality graphics and the game’s acclaimed 2-player mode has been upgraded with refined character interactions and better gameplay dynamics.

Shadow of the Ninja – Reborn features:

  • An array of deadly weapons to use, including caltrops and shurikens.
  • Five completely recreated stages plus a brand-new stage, all filled with devious traps and challenging puzzles.
  • Modern in-game sprite art that is a faithful update from the 8-bit original.
  • Enjoy key visuals and characters illustrated by the original’s illustartors at Dynamic Productions.
  • Enjoy a musical score by the legendary Hiroshi Iwatsuki and Iku Mizutani.

Shadow of the Ninja – Reborn will be arriving on PC and consoles later this year. Remember, pre-orders for the Limited and Collector’s Editions are available now, with regular retail pre-orders arriving soon.
