Ridley Scott has another Blade Runner sequel ready for development

January 8, 2018 by Matt Rodgers

Ridley Scott doesn’t hold back, whether that’s the rate at which he churns out films, or the soundbites he’s offering up on the press tour for All the Money in the World. In the time it took you to read that sentence, he’s probably shot an entire movie.

The latest Ridley revelation, following the news that he thought Blade Runner 2049 was “fucking way too long”, and that the Disney-Fox merger has thrown a spanner in the works of the Alien franchise, is that the omnipresent director has more ideas for Deckard’s world, despite the perceived failure of the critically acclaimed cerebral blockbuster.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Scott hinted that Denis Villeneuve’s film might not be the end to the franchise, and that “there is another story”. He continued to say “I’ve got another one ready to evolve and be developed, so there is certainly one to be done for sure.”

With All the Money in the World receiving positive notices (read our review here), coupled with the fact that the most recent successful entry into a franchise associated with Scott was the one he didn’t direct (the other being Alien: Covenant) do you welcome this news, or do you think Blade Runner 2049 was the perfect end to the series?
