Roguelike dungeon crawler Tangledeep coming to Nintendo Switch next year

October 6, 2017 by Andrew Newton

Nintendo Switch gamers will be excited to hear that indie developer Impact Gameworks have announced that their 16 bit inspired roguelike dungeon crawler, Tangledeep, will be coming to the Switch in early 2018.  Already available on Steam Early Access, Tangledeep will take Switch players into a wild adventure in the lush world of Tangledeep.

In Tangledeep players are transported to a world where all the inhabitants live within underground villages and settlements.  Nobody has any memory of what is on the surface of the world, the only thing people know is that the way to the surface lays through the ever changing labyrinth called Tangledeep.

Tangledeep features:

  • Procedurally generated and handcrafted gameplay with monsters to fight, quests and rare items to collect.
  • Tactical turn based combat across 9 unique jobs.
  • Two game modes to choose between including Adventure Mode.
  • Share some of your progress between characters by using the banking system, planting magic trees or raising monsters in town.
  • Beautiful 16 bit graphics and carefully handcrafted maps that hearken back to the days of the SNES.
  • A relaxing soundtrack composed by composer Andrew Aversa – joined by Hiroki Kikuta (Secret of Mana) and Grant Kirkhope (GoldenEye 007, Civilization: Beyond Earth).

For hundreds of years, people have lived in the safety of underground settlements and villages – where the only route to the surface is “Tangledeep,” a mysterious and ever-changing labyrinth. With memories of the surface world long forgotten, you set out for the labyrinth to discover what lies above. With each floor – full of magical beasts, ancient automatons, bizarre environments and hybrid biomes – the mystery grows ever deeper…
