Rumour: Silver Surfer to appear in Avengers: Infinity War

March 21, 2018 by Gary Collinson

If bringing together Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and virtually every other supporting player from the first ten years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t enough, it seems that Avengers: Infinity War may be set to introduce another classic Marvel here… although you may want to have your pinch of salt at the ready here.

As reported by SuperBrosMovies, an alleged cast list for Infinity War has been posted to Metacritic, which suggests that an actor by the name of Curt Clenenin is portraying Norrin Radd, a.k.a. The Silver Surfer. Clendenin has very few credits to his name outside of uncredited roles and double work, but as SuperBrosMovies points out, it’s possible that he simply performing some motion capture work for the character, if there’s any truth to it, of course.

It should be pointed out that with Disney’s takeover yet to be completed, the rights to the Silver Surfer still belong to 20th Century Fox. In fact, Fox announced just last month that comic book creator Brian K. Vaughan (Runaways, X-Men, Y: The Last Man) had signed on to pen a Silver Surfer solo movie for the studio.

As Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn pointed out last month, “There is no merge yet between Disney and Fox, it does not exist yet. Hopefully, it will exist. Hopefully, they will work it out. But, it doesn’t exist. You will not see X-Men or anyone else like that in Infinity Wars, Avengers 3 or Avengers 4, because those movies have been shot.”

That being said, Infinity War does include Spider-Man – a Sony character – and Marvel has been known to shoot additional material such as post-credits tags right up until the movie’s premiere, so it’s not entirely beyond the realm of possibility that Silver Surfer could make an appearance. It’s surely highly unlikely though…

An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.

Avengers: Infinity War opens on April 27th 2018 and will feature an all-star cast including Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Paul Bettany (Vision), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Benedict Wong (Wong), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Sean Gunn (Rocket, Kraglin), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Benicio Del Toro (The Collector), Danai Gurira (Okoye), Winston Duke (M’Baku) and Peter Dinklage and Terry Notary in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
