Samuel L. Jackson confirms Don Cheadle for Secret Invasion, lets slip future Nick Fury appearances

March 20, 2022 by Gary Collinson

Although Marvel Studios is yet to make an official cast announcement for Secret Invasion, Nick Fury actor Samuel L. Jackson is doing a pretty good job of confirming which familiar faces from the MCU we can expect to see popping up in the Disney+ series.

Having recently revealed that Martin Freeman will be returning as CIA agent Everett Ross, Jackson has now told Happy Sad Confused that Don Cheadle’s Rhodey is also part of the cast of the show.

“C’mon man, you walk on the set, Emilia Clarke is amazing…Ben Mendelsohn, he’s awesome. Don, Don Cheadle. I got Don, that’s my golf buddy. I didn’t realize it, but ’til we did this thing, I was like, ‘We’ve never worked together.’ We just kinda know each other, hang out and laugh but we’d never worked together and we finally got to.”

Cheadle has already made his Disney+ debut with a cameo in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and he’s also set to lead his own series with Armor Wars. Throw in Secret Invasion and a possible apperance in Ironheart, and it looks like we could be seeing plenty of War Machine over the next couple of years. So too Nick Fury, with Jackson also letting slip a couple of upcoming big screen appearances for the super spy:

“It’s kind of strange when someone tells you they’re going to give you a nine-picture deal. You know, you go ‘How long am I going to stay alive to make nine pictures?’ It used to take a while to make a movie but people make two or three of them at a time. In the Marvel Universe, it’s crazy. When I was in London, it was [Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania], and [The Marvels] was happening, and we were getting ready to do [Secret Invasion]. It was like, three Marvel movies on one lot. I was kind of running around from place to place.”

As yet, there’s no word on a premiere date for Secret Invasion, but The Marvels is currently set for release on February 17th 2023 followed by Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
