Scream 6: Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding & Jenna Ortega returning for sequel

May 11, 2022 by Liam Waddington

Following the announcement that Scream 6 is officially in development, Variety is reporting that the four survivors from the previous instalment are set to reprise their respective roles in the slasher sequel.

Melissa Barrera (Sam Carpenter), Jasmin Savoy Brown (Mindy Meeks-Martin), Mason Gooding (Chad Meeks-Martin), and Jenna Ortega (Tara Carpenter) will all be returning for the next movie in the Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures franchise. Scream 6 will follow the quartet as they leave Woodsboro for a fresh start after surviving the recent Ghostface killings.

It has also been previously confirmed that Courteney Cox will once again be returning as the legacy character Gale Weathers. However, there has still been no announcement as to whether Neve Campbell will make an appearance as Sidney Prescott after having a limited role in Scream 5.

Principal photography on Scream 6 is slated to begin in early summer and will reunite the filmmaking team behind the most recent instalment with Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett once again directing, and James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick co-writing the screenplay.

The next Scream is set for release on March 31st, 2023.
