Sequel to 1988 cult classic Beyond the Ice Palace announced

April 12, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Back in 1988, game publisher Elite released Beyond The Ice Palace onto the famous British Spectrum and Amstrad home computers as well as the international bestsellers Commodore 64, Atari ST and Amiga 500.

This action adventure, despite only getting above average marks in the magazines was loved by many a player for the challenge, the story and the music.  Now, after 36 years, PQube, Storybird Studio and Pixelheart are finally bringing a sequel to PC and consoles.

In Beyond The Ice Palace II, take on the role of the Cursed King and set out on a journey to reclaim the stolen kingdom by hunting down the scattered fragments of celestial arrows to purge the curse.

Explore every inch of the old kingdom and uncover the hidden chambers and discreet passageways to gain precious treasures and the Power Crystals that will grant new abilities and invaluable enhancements.  Power Crystals can be used to enhance health, stamina, attack power, rage and the ability for recovering health.

The old kingdom isn’t a safe place like it once was and there are many creatures that will try to stop the Cursed King from regaining his lands.  It goes without saying that players will need to slash, maim and eviscerate any that stands in their way.  This includes the monstrous demons that will push players to their limits.

Featuring:

  • Use the chains that once imprisoned the king as a whip to traverse the environment and attack enemies in combat.
  • Enjoy platforming adventure across intricately designed levels.
  • Test your skills, strategies and timing on the gigantic enemies.
  • Uncover hidden areas, solve cunning puzzles and reveal the secrets of the kingdom.
  • Upgrade the Cursed King’s abilities with the elusive Power Crystals.

Beyond The Ice Palace II will be released on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S later this year.  Pre-orders are now available for physical editions on Playstation 5 and the Nintendo Switch.
