Sony denies Aunt May movie rumour

November 12, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Yesterday rumour specialists Latino-Review dropped a new report, claiming that Sony was looking at an Amazing Spider-Man spin-off centred around the character of Aunt May, which would take place in her youth without the inclusion of Spider-Man.

Well, if Sony is to be believed, the report is nothing but a fabrication, with a studio source telling Comic Book Resources that the story is nothing but “a silly rumour” with “no validity whatsoever.”

Sony has The Sinister Six set for 2016 and The Amazing Spider-Man 3 looking at a 2018 release date, along with spin-offs centred around Venom and an as-yet-unrevealed female-led project. However, if talk is to be believed, the future of the Spider-Man franchise remains uncertain after the negative reception towards The Amazing Spider-Man 2, so don’t be surprised if these plans change…

Are you disappointed that we won’t be getting an Aunt May solo movie? Or is that a silly question?
