Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will answer questions about the First Order

December 4, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Chris Terrio, the co-writer of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, says that the film will answer questions about the First Order.

Ever since the First Order debuted in The Force Awakens, questions have been asked about exactly how this mighty force came into being from the shattered remnants of the Empire. They seemed to appear all of a sudden and be strong enough to take on the New Republic.

Well, our questions about the First Order will apparently be answered in The Rise of Skywalker. Speaking to Uproxx, co-writer Chris Terrio said:

“Already it’s established in the Expanded Universe and the novels, there are some things we know canonically about the First Order. Even in [Star Wars: The Force Awakens], there was that idea of Nazis in Argentina. So we will definitely get some more. I think you’ll find there are more answers in this movie about how all that came to be. Because they are an extremely formidable military power that sprung up relatively quickly.

“So that’s a thing that really interests me as a fan. Because I saw The Force Awakens just as a fan and I wondered all those things. So, I came to this with questions. I wanted to know these things. In some cases there were answers and in some cases there weren’t and we got to craft answers.”

From all the recent reports, it sounds like Episode IX is going to deliver a lot of answers to long-time questions. Fingers crossed the movie will be an experience to remember and finish off the saga in style.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set for release on December 19th 2019 in the UK and December 20th 2019 in North America with J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) directing a cast that includes Star Wars veterans Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix), Greg Grunberg (Snap Wexley), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) and Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa) as well as new additions Naomi Ackie (Lady Macbeth), Richard E. Grant (Logan), Dominic Monaghan (Lost), and Keri Russell (The Americans).
