Tactical stealth adventure The Stone of Madness escaping onto PC and consoles early 2025

August 22, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Publisher Tripwire and developer The Game Kitchen (Blasphemous and Blasphemous 2) have announced they will be releasing The Stone of Madness, a new tactical stealth adventure onto PC and consoles in early 2025. This new adventure will have players follow five prisoners in their attempt to escape an 18th century Spanish asylum.  Watch the new trailer below…

The Stone of Madness takes players to a small Jesuit monastery deep in the Pyrenees. This large, old monastery serves as both a madhouse and a prison to the Spanish authorities and is currently home to five mysterious characters that have been imprisoned under different pretenses.  These five are receiving cruel punishments at the hands of merciless guards and the madness of the other evil inhabitants so the time has come for players to assist in this escape.

Players will take control of all five prisoners independently and help them in their escape while ensuring that the horrors they witness around the asylum do not make them lose their sanity.  They must avoid detection at all costs as the guards are not known for their leniency in their treatment of escapees.

The Stone of Madness features:

  • Madness management – Each character has their own traumas and phobias which contribute to their level of madness. Failing to ensure their mental health can result in new negative traits, including paranoia, dementia, or bouts of violence.
  • Two different escape plans to choose from with each featuring unique stories, objectives and surprises.
  • A day and night cycle that separates daytime actions and nighttime preparations. This allows the prisoners time to rest in the evenings and avoid leaving their cells at night, those who venture out at night will soon find out why these corridors are eerily silent.
  • A stunning hand-painted art style inspired by 18th-century artist Francisco De Goya.

“The passionate team at Tripwire Presents is a pleasure to work with,” said Maikel Ortega, Game Director at The Game Kitchen, “The Game Kitchen studio cannot wait for the world to finally discover The Stone of Madness.”

“We were big fans of The Game Kitchen and the work they did with the Blasphemous series, and Tripwire Presents is thrilled at the opportunity to publish their next title,” said Matt LoPilato, CEO of Tripwire Interactive, “The Stone of Madness shines with a uniquely creative art style, engaging narrative, and gameplay that fans are sure to enjoy. We’re especially excited to help bring this title to all major console and PC platforms at release.”

Look out for The Stone of Madness arriving on Xbox Series X/S, Playstation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store in early 2025.
