Martin Carr reviews the third episode of Gotham season 3…Once again Gotham season three is jam packed full of narrative tangents, colourful characterisations and enough kookiness to keep those sceptics at bay. With plotlines gaining traction it felt like Gotham was once again moving in the right direction. A none too subtle homage to the Tim […]

Martin Carr reviews the second episode of Gotham season 3…Dare I say that Gotham is getting exciting? Proper plotlines, dynamic characters and a warped reality which seems to work perfectly. An off the reservation beatnik cop with a drinking problem, lunatics running the nightly entertainment and crime bosses dictating to an enthralled media. I have […]

Martin Carr reviews the first episode of Gotham season 3…There is a dark, sordid undercurrent to this opening episode which promises much and delivers more. Gotham spends its first forty minutes and change planting seeds and continuing the story with economy and no little confidence. Canvases have been broadened, characters deliver swagger along with glide […]

Martin Carr reviews the season 2 finale of Gotham…With a fire and ice standoff, Russian roulette question and answer sessions and Gordon bound in the basement, Gotham’s finale ‘Transference’ was shaping up to be an interesting proposition. What felt a bit odd though was the lack of finality about the season closer, bearing in mind […]

Martin Carr reviews the twentieth episode of Gotham season 2…Even though I am over a week behind with Gotham it is moving so fast this barely seems to matter. Martin Carr reviews the twenty-first episode of Gotham season 2…Back in the saddle and circling the wagons is how I can best describe my position right now. With the re-emergence of a person we thought ourselves well rid of Gotham throws another spanner in the works. To reveal is to spoil but suffice to say […]

Martin Carr reviews the eighteenth episode of Gotham season 2…Does anyone remember that moment from Total Recall when Arnie’s cab driver removes his false arm? All backlit, reptilian mandible about two feet long with seriously sharp talons attached? That one. In term of moments on film it ranks with the boy on a tricycle peddling […]

Martin Carr reviews the seventeenth episode of Gotham season 2…Episode seventeen entitled ‘Into The Woods’ has nothing to do Sondheim. There is no warbling, no Meryl Streep and mercifully no Johnny Depp looking shifty amongst the undergrowth. Instead we get gothic melodrama, boatloads of crazy and a showdown which is more Millers Crossing than DC […]

Martin Carr reviews the sixteenth episode of Gotham season 2…Gordon behind bars is a more intriguing prospect than you might think this week. As ‘Prisoners’ splits itself evenly between Penguin and Black Gate prison, giving both actors the opportunity to shine in their own shared episode. McKenzie takes stoic to another level with his hardened […]
