Take a trip to Widow’s Bay with Matthew Rhys in trailer for Apple TV horror-comedy series

April 3, 2026 by Amie Cranswick

Apple TV has shared the first trailer for Widow’s Bay, the upcoming horror-comedy series from creator Katie Dippold (Parks and Recreation).

Matthew Rhys stars as Tom Loftis, the sceptical mayor of a quaint, but struggling island town off the New England coast, who is determined to build a better life for his son and the island’s superstitious locals. But along with the tourists, comes the ludicrous old stories, which start to come to life again.

Joining Rhys in the cast is Kate O’Flynn, Stephen Root, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Kevin Carroll and Dale Dickey. Check out the trailer and promotional images below…

In “Widow’s Bay” something lurks beneath the surface. Mayor Tom Loftis (Matthew Rhys) is desperate to revive his struggling community.  There’s no wifi, spotty cellular reception, and he must contend with superstitious locals who believe their island is cursed.  He wants these people to respect him.  They don’t.  They think he is soft and cowardly.  And he is. But Loftis is determined to build a better future for his teenage son and turn the island into a tourist destination.  Miraculously, he succeeds: tourists are finally coming. Unfortunately, the locals were right.  After decades of calm, the old stories that seemed too ludicrous to be true start happening again.

Widow’s Bay premieres on Apple TV on April 29th.
