Terraria arrives on Nintendo Switch

June 27, 2019 by Andrew Newton

505 Games, Re-Logic and Pipeworks Studio have announced that their popular indie title, Terraria, is now available on the Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo eShop.  The Switch edition comes with all the features and content of the PC/console editions and has been enhanced to take advantage of what the Switch offers.  See more of Terraria in the trailer below…

The Nintendo Switch edition of Terraria puts the 2D world at players’ fingertips, quite literally with touch screen support so that players can quickly navigate their inventory.  There’s also the option for players to join up to 7 friends in online play.

Players will need to survive by constructing bases, gathering a variety of items (more than 3500 to discover) and fight their way past more than 300 enemies and 20+ bosses.  There will also be over 20 NPCs to interact with, each providing their own benefits and unique style.

Other features of Terraria include:

  • Endgame Celestial Invasion Event and the Moonlord final boss encounter.
  • Over 20 Biomes and Mini-Biomes to explore, including lush forests, barren deserts, dungeons, the underworld and the Corruption.
  • New Expert Mode that provides new challenges and greater rewards.
  • Updated crafting with multiple added item options.
  • In-depth building options that are easy to learn.

“We are extremely proud of what we have achieved with our partners at Re-Logic in creating and sharing a sleeper hit that has blossomed into a global community with more than 27 million copies sold to date,” said 505 Games Senior Brand Director John Merchant. “With the launch of Terraria for Nintendo Switch, the doors will open to an even larger audience of players, offering the most flexible way to play this wondrous sandbox-style adventure at home or on-the-go.”

Terraria is available on the Nintendo eShop now and will arrive in retail stores later this summer.
