Deadline is reporting that the long-rumoured Tetris movie adaptation has secured $80 million of financing, and will begin production next year as a co-production between China and the US.

It is being seen as the first instalment of a planned trilogy and will feature both Chinese and Western actors.

Tetris The Movie joins an ever-expanding list of upcoming video game adaptations, which includes the likes of Sonic the Hedgehog, Shinobi, Tomb Raider, Borderlands, and a slate of Nintendo features. And of course, this year also has The Angry Birds Movie [read our review here], Warcraft and Assassin’s Creed incoming.
