The Week in Star Wars – Mark Hamill’s ‘near death’ Force Awakens trip, Episode VIII spoilers, Rogue One set photos and more

September 20, 2015 by admin

I’m back after a week off! And this Week in Star Wars sees some over-blown news about Mark Hamill nearly dying, Episode VIII spoilers, Rogue One set photos and more…

It seems as though The Force Awakens was rather dangerous for its returning Star Wars stars. Poor old Harrison Ford was injured while on the Millennium Falcon, and a story broke this week that claimed Mark Hamill NEARLY DIED while filming in Ireland. The report said that he slipped on a set of steps that has claimed several lives over the last couple of years and the actor was saved by a local tour guide. However Hamill confirmed on Twitter that the story was made up and that filming was fine. So nothing really to see here…

…Speaking of Hamill, and the actor was spotted on the set of Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: Episode VIII – which could suggest that Luke Skywalker will be back for the eighth part of the Star Wars Saga. He was also spotted pulling pints in a local Irish pub, which was nice of him…

…Back to The Force Awakens for just a quick moment as seven new trailers for LEGO tie-in sets were released this week…

…Moving over to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and some set photos arrived online this week that showed a crashed spaceship along with some rather dead Stormtroopers…

…With less than a month until it airs on Disney XD, a featurette was released for Star Wars Rebels which highlights the return of The Clones…

…Back at the start of August, Sourcebooks – the publisher behind ‘Put Me In The Story’ – announced that it was publishing two customisable Star Wars books, and now book Star Wars: The Force Inside and Star Wars Rebels: Battle Plans from Darth Vader are available to order via the official website, priced $39.99 apiece…

…Taking a step back to the Original Trilogy, and director John Landis has let it slip that Disney could be planning to re-release A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi back into cinemas in order to hype up The Force Awakens. Landis told Empire Magazine during a Q&A session and added that, not only are they re-releasing The Holy Trilogy, they will be in their original theatrical cuts! There had also been a rumour back in August last year that these cuts would be on the Blu-Ray releases for what it’s worth…

…In the ‘cool stuff’ department, we’ve got some Star Wars-themed porch lights, and it was announced this week that Walmart are giving away Han-Solo-in-Carbonite mini fridge to anyone who pre-orders the Deluxe edition of Star Wars Battlefront. Only for US folk sadly…

…And speaking of video games, here’s our review of Star Wars: Uprising…

…Moving over to the world of toys after a bumper edition a couple of weeks back following Force Friday, and Hot Toys have released images of their 1/6th First Order Snowtrooper and First Order Snowtrooper Officer from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. You can check out images of other Force Awakens collectables here: Kylo Ren, First Order Stormtrooper, First Order Heavy Gunner Stormtrooper and First Order Stormtrooper Squad Leader…

…And lastly we have some comic book previews for you. First up is Chewbacca #1: Known as the skilled co-pilot of the infamous Millennium Falcon, the legendary Wookiee warrior Chewbacca is flying solo for his very own limited series! Following the Battle of Yavin, Chewbacca finds himself on his own and separated from the Rebel Alliance. Crash landing on an Imperial occupied planet, Chewie finds himself in the company of a young local girl in need. Together, they may just be enough to take on the forces invading her home and get Chewbacca back to the Rebellion. Don’t call him a fuzz ball. Don’t call him a walking carpet. This is Chewbacca – fierce and loyal warrior of Kashyyyk. And we have a Han Solo variant cover of Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens – Shattered Empire #3. And finally we have a preview of Star Wars: Kanan – The Last Padawan #6: • A tale from the time of Rebels! • No longer a Padawan, the adult Kanan finds himself back on the planet Kaller… • Will his past as Caleb Dume return to haunt him?

Don’t forget to check out our review of Star Wars related products, which you can purchase from Hawkin’s Bazaar.

That’s all for this week – may the Force be with you.
