Thor: Love and Thunder concept art shows Russell Crowe as a comedy Satan

July 15, 2022 by Amie Cranswick

Having featured in the DC Extended Universe way back in its inception as Superman’s Kryptonian pa Jor-El in 2013’s Man of Steel, Russell Crowe popped up in another cinematic universe this month, making his MCU debut as Zeus in Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder.

However, it seems the Greek god wasn’t the only character considered for Crowe’s Marvel cameo, as illustrator Miles Teves has shared a few pieces of early concept art depicting the Oscar-winner in another role – that of Lucifer!

Check out Teves’ illustrations here…

Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Love and Thunder” finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey, unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Thor: Ragnarok‘s Taika Waititi, who also reprises his CGI role as Korg, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), alongside the returning Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax) and Sean Gunn (Kraglin), with Christian Bale (Ford v Ferrari) as Gorr the God Butcher and Russell Crowe (Man of Steel) as Zeus.

Thor: Love and Thunder is in cinemas now.
