Time-Warner CEO says Ben Affleck’s Batman movie is “a year and a half out”

September 26, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Last week we brought you some comments from Time-Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes, who suggested on an investor conference all that Warner Bros. “can do a little better on the creative” side of the DC Extended Universe, and now we have some further comments, which give us an indication of when we might expect Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie.

“Ben announced a Batman movie [that] he’s going to direct, star, write for – I think it’s a year and a half out,” said Bewkes (via The Suicide Squadcast / Batman-News).

Should Bewkes be referring to the release date, that would suggest that we can expect the Batman movie some time in 2018. Warner Bros. has The Flash opening on March 16th 2018, followed by Aquaman on July 27th 2018 and an as-yet-unrevealed movie slated for October 5th 2018 – a slot that Batman could occupy.

However, given that Affleck is currently shooting Justice League, and is yet to complete the script for Batman, it’s also possible that Bewkes means we’re a year and a half away from the start of production, which would make Warner’s other free date November 1st 2019 a likely slot for the Dark Knight’s solo movie.
