The Top 20 Most Watched Trailers of 2014

December 21, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Originally published December 21, 2014. Updated April 12, 2018.

Over the past few months we’ve been treated to a selection of huge trailers for some of 2015’s biggest releases, but which has been the most watched of the year? Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Avengers: Age of Ultron? Jurassic World? Well, actually, it’s Fifty Shades of Grey…

Via Digital Spy, here’s the top 20 most watched trailers of 2014, along with the number of YouTube views…

1. Fifty Shades of Grey (93 million)
2. Star Wars: The Force Awakens (81 million)
3. Avengers: Age of Ultron (78 million)
4. Jurassic World (64 million)
5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (58 million)
6. Fast & Furious 7 (57.5 million)
7. Minions (54 million)
8. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (45 million)
9. Dumb and Dumber To (44 million)
10. Interstellar (39 million)
11. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 (38 million)
12. Transformers: Age of Extinction (37 million)
13. The Fault in Our Stars (33.7 million)
14. X-Men: Days of Future Past (32 million)
15. Dracula Untold (30 million)
16. Sex Tape (29.5 million)
17. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (29 million)
18. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 (teaser) (27 million)
19. Mad Max: Fury Road (26 million)
20. Pitch Perfect 2 (25.8 million)

Of course, with Fifty Shades of Grey’s first trailer arriving in July, it’s had much, much longer to amass those views, so you’d have to imagine that Star Wars will have little trouble taking that top spot as time goes on…
