Top Gun: Maverick isn’t done with its castings just yet. After signing on several actors yesterday, Deadline has revealed that Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Ed Harris (Westworld) and Lewis Pullman (Bad Times at the El Royale) have now been added to the star-studded sequel.
There is no word on who they will be playing, but they join original Top Gun stars Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer in the sequel. Miles Teller (Whiplash) is set to star as Goose’s son, who has joined the Top Gun academy as a student where Cruise Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell is now an instructor.
Alongside Cruise, Kilmer and Teller, Top Gun: Maverick is set to star Jennifer Connolly (American Pastoral), Glen Powell (Hidden Figures), Charles Parnell (Transformers: Age of Extinction), Bashir Salahuddin (Glow), Monica Barbaro (The Good Cop), Danny Ramirez (The Gifted) and Jay Ellis (Insecure). Though Thomasin McKenzie (Leave No Trace) was reported to have joined the cast as well, Deadline has now reported in the new piece that she has bowed out due to scheduling conflicts.
Top Gun: Maverick will be directed by Joseph Kosinski from a script written by Peter Craig, Justin Marks and Eric Warren Singer. Jerry Bruckheimer is producing with Cruise and Skydance’s David Ellison.
