Ving Rhames will return for Mission: Impossible 5

August 17, 2014 by James Garcia

Jack Reacher director Christopher McQuarrie is hard at work on developing the fifth installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise, which will see the return of Tom Cruise as IMF agent Ethan Hunt and several of the last installment’s players, including Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner. Now, thanks to McQuarrie himself, we have word on another actor returning to the long-running franchise: Ving Rhames.

Rhames was rumored to return, but today McQuarrie took to Twitter to officially announce the news to his followers.

Rhames was last seen in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, in a small cameo near the tail-end of the film. His character Luther Stickell had a role in the first three films of the series, so it will be cool to see him return to the IMF team.

Mission: Impossible 5 is expected to hit theaters on December 25, 2015. The film stars Tom Cruise, Rebecca Furguson (The White Queen), Paula Patton (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol), Jeremy Renner (The Avengers), Simon Pegg (The World’s End), and Alec Baldwin (30 Rock, Blue Jasmine).
