Wake Up Dead Man begins production with first image teasing Benoit Blanc’s new look

June 10, 2024 by Ricky Church

Production on Rian Johnson’s third Benoit Blanc mystery Wake Up Dead Man has begun today in the UK and Johnson has marked the occasion by sharing a photo of Daniel Craig featuring a new look for the southern detective. Check it out below…

The image sees Craig’s Blanc sporting much longer hair than his shorter cut previously seen in Knives Out and Glass Onion. Of the start of filming, Johnson said “Aaaaand we’re off! Today is day 1 of shooting on the next Benoit Blanc mystery “Wake Up Dead Man” – see you on the other side.”

No details of the plot have been made known, but when Johnson released the film’s announcement teaser Craig’s Blanc said this would be his most dangerous case yet. With the title being Wake Up Dead Man and Johnson’s use of “see you on the other side”, could the next film see Blanc investigating a case with supernatural leanings?

Wake Up Dead Man sees Daniel Craig reprising his role as Benoit Blanc alongside newcomers Josh O’Connor (Challengers), Cailee Spaeney (Civil War), Kerry Washington (Scandal), Andrew Scott (Ripley), Glenn Close (Fatal Attraction) and Jeremy Renner (Avengers: Endgame), Mila Kunis (That 70s Show) Daryl McCormack (Good Luck To You, Leo Grande), Josh Brolin (Dune: Part Two) and Thomas Haden Church (Spider-Man: No Way Home).

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery will be released sometime in 2025.
