It’s no secret that Zack Snyder envisioned his Justice League story as spanning two movies, with Warner Bros. initially announcing Justice League Part One and Justice League Part Two as part of its DCEU slate before getting cold feet on the filmmaker’s vision and steering things in a different direction.
We will of course soon get to see what Zack had planned for DC’s legendary team of superheroes pre-Josstice League, but unless the mystical Snyder Cut shifts a crazy amount of HBO Max subscriptions, it’s surely unlikely that Warner Bros. would be willing to stump up the $250 million plus needed to complete the story with another movie.
However, all hope may not be lost, as speaking to Bleeding Cool recently, Snyder revealed that he’s been talking to DC publisher Jim Lee about the possibility of completing his DCEU story in comic book form.
“I would love to do a comic book, the post-apocalyptic Knightmare world, the world has fallen, the ragtag team that’s left alive trying to put it back,” said Snyder. “Inside of that story, we would also do that story of Joker killing Robin. The Joker is somehow involved in the stealing of the Mother Box and using it to create the treadmill; Cyborg is going to do the math, this is what we’re going to have to do to jump back in time and warn Bruce correctly.”
“I don’t think anything is going to happen right away,” Snyder continued. “But Jim and I talk quite a bit. And we talked a lot about maybe doing a book or a comic book down the road just to kind of finish this. We haven’t locked anything in, but if it’s a thing that would be interesting to the fandom, they can always ask Jim about it.”
