Mel Gibson and Steven Seagal confirmed for The Expendables 3?

July 6, 2013 by admin

There’s been so much speculation about the cast of the upcoming action sequel The Expendables 3 – most of which has come directly from Sylvester Stallone, or producer Avi Lerner – that at this point, it’s quite difficult to separate fact from fiction. And now we have another rumour to throw your way, with ExBlog reporting that unnamed Bulgarian news sources are stating that Mel Gibson (Lethal Weapon, Machete Kills) and Steven Seagal (Under Siege, Machete) have become the latest names to join the star-studded cast.

Gibson has been linked to The Expendables 3 for some time (he was originally touted as a possible director, and just last month it was rumoured that Stallone was eyeing Mad Mel for the role of the lead villain), while Seagal claimed back in April 2012 that Sly had made him an offer to appear in the third movie. Should these reports prove correct, Gibson and Seagal will join Stallone in a cast that may or may not include returning action veterans Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li and Mickey Rourke, with new additions said to include Jackie Chan (Rush Hour), Wesley Snipes (Blade), Nicolas Cage (Con Air) and Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil).

The Expendables 3 will be directed by Patrick Hughes (Red Hill) and is currently due for release on August 15th, 2014.
