Hans Zimmer forms ‘supergroup’ for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 score

October 31, 2013 by admin

Earlier this week it was revealed that composer Hans Zimmer (Man of Steel) is set to collaborate with singer / songwriter / record producer Pharrell Williams on the score for next year’s superhero sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but it seems that Pharrell isn’t the musician on board, with Sony announcing today that Johnny Marr (The Smiths), Michael Einziger (Incubus) and Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) will also be working with Zimmer to create music for the film.

“[Director Marc Webb] and I were talking about Spider-Man, and as the word got out, so many of our friends and musicians started calling us up, wanting to be a part of it, because they love Spider-Man. That was the thing that united all of us – the great love for Spider-Man. With all of these hugely talented people wanting to join us, it was Marc who said, ‘Why not start a band?’ Marc and I have had a great start jamming with everybody, and we still have a few surprises up our sleeve.”

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is scheduled for release on May 2nd 2014, with a cast that includes the returning Andrew Garfield (Peter Parker / Spider-Man), Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy) and Sally Field (Aunt May) alongside franchise newcomers Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained) as Electro, Paul Giamatti (Sideways) as Rhino, Dane DeHaan (Chronicle) as Harry Osborn, Chris Cooper (American Beauty) as Norman Osborn and Felicity Jones (Like Crazy) and Colm Feore (Thor) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
