Costa Ronin joins Marvel’s Agent Carter as Anton Vanko

November 5, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Following on from the first clip from Marvel’s Agent Carter featuring Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter), Dominic Cooper (Howard Stark) and James D’Arcy (Edwin Jarvis) [watch it here], it is now being reported that Costa Ronin (The Americans) has signed on to play Anton Vanko, the father of Mickey Rourke’s Ivan Vanko, a.k.a. Whiplash.

The character of Anton Vanko is glimpsed at the start of Iron Man 2, where the dying man tells his son that he co-created the arc reactor with Howard Stark, proving Ivan with the original blueprints which he then uses to power his own creations against Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) in a quest for revenge.

Agent Carter will air on ABC in the States in January. Also featuring in the cast are hea Whigham (Boardwalk Empire) as Roger Dooley, Enver Gjokaj (Dollhouse) as Agent Daniel Sousa, Chad Michael Murray (One Tree Hill) as Agent Jack Thompson, James D’Arcy (Let’s Be Cops) as Jarvis and Lyndsy Fonseca (Kick-Ass) as Angie Martinelli.
