Pedro Pascal cast as The Red Viper in Game of Thrones

June 28, 2013 by admin

If you’re struggling to keep track of all the characters in Game of Thrones, then the fourth season isn’t going to make things any easier for you. We might still be some nine months away from the return of the epic fantasy series, but casting for the new additions is now underway, with Entertainment Weekly revealing that Pedro Pascal (The Good Wife, Graceland) has secured the role of Oberyn Martell, a.k.a. The Red Viper.

“This was a tough one,” said showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. “The Red Viper is sexy and charming, yet believably dangerous; intensely likable, yet driven by hate. The boys love him, the girls love him, and he loves them all back. Unless your last name is Lannister. We found a fellow who can handle the job description and make it seem effortless. He wasn’t easy to find and he won’t be easy to stop.”

Game of Thrones returns to HBO in 2014.
