Anna Paquin’s Rogue cut from X-Men: Days of Future Past

December 20, 2013 by admin

The cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past reads like a who’s who of the X-Men franchise, but it seems we’ll be getting one less mutant when the film arrives next year, with Bryan Singer revealing to Entertainment Weekly that Anna Paquin’s role as Rogue has been cut from the eagerly-anticipated time-travel sequel.

“Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous,” explains Singer, referring to a rescue scene that would have featured Rogue alongside Magneto (Ian McKellen), Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and Iceman (Shawn Ashmore). “It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go. Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even though she’s in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won’t appear in it.”

Are you disappointed that Paquin won’t be back as Rogue in Days of Future Past, or do we have more than enough characters to focus on as it is? Let us know in the comments below…

X-Men: Days of Future Past is set for release on May 23rd 2014 with a cast that also includes X-Men veterans Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magento), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Lucas Till (Havok), Halle Berry (Storm), Ellen Page (Kitty Pryde), Shawn Ashmore (Iceman) and Daniel Cudmore (Colossus) alongside X-Men newcomers Omar Sy (The Intouchables) as Bishop, Evan Peters (American Horror Story) as Quicksilver, Booboo Stewart (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) as Warpath, Fan Binbing (Iron Man 3) as Blink, Adam Canto (The Following) as Sunspot, Josh Helman (Mad Max: Fury Road) as William Stryker, and Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) as Bolivar Trask.
