Fast & Furious 7 production delayed due to Paul Walker’s death, but sequel will proceed

December 1, 2013 by admin

Earlier today we reported on the sad news about Paul Walker’s death yesterday in Southern California, when a car he was traveling in crashed, killing him and the driver. The accident happened while Walker and the cast and crew of Fast & Furious 7 were on a Thanksgiving break from filming the latest chapter in the high-octane action franchise, leaving Universal Pictures facing task of deciding how to proceed with the James Wan-directed sequel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wan and Universal executives have held a conference call today, during which they discussed “the state of the film, whether rewrites would be necessary, and how to proceed in a manner that would be respectful to Walker’s death.” Filming had been expected to resume today, although naturally yesterday’s events have left the cast and crew in a state of shock, and THR is reporting that “plans are on hold until Monday or Tuesday at the earliest.” However, while production has been delayed, the sites sources are suggesting that the movie will proceed, although its unknown whether it will meet its planned release date of July 11th next year.

Fast & Furious 7 was planned as the first of a new “trilogy” of Fast movies, with Walker starring alongside Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jason Statham, Djimon Hounsou, Tony Jaa, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Ronda Rousey.
