Simon Pegg has reportedly filmed “secret role” for Star Wars: Episode VII, Harrison Ford injured on set

June 12, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Despite previous reports that no members of J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek cast would be joining the director in a galaxy far, far away, IGN is suggesting that Simon Pegg has filmed a “secret role” for Star Wars: Episode VII, with the Shaun of the Dead star reportedly shooting the part on location in Abu Dhabi. If true, this wouldn’t be the first time that Original Trilogy fan Pegg has worked on Star Wars, with the actor lending his voice to the bounty hunter Dengar in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Meanwhile in other Episode VII news, Harrison Ford has picked up an injury at Pinewood Studios whilst shooting scenes for the eagerly-anticipated sequel, with a spokesman for Lucasfilm stating that: “Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care. Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates.”

Star Wars: Episode VII is set for release on December 18th 2015, with returning stars Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Kenny Baker (R2-D2) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) joined by Adam Driver (Girls), Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis), Andy Serkis (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Domhnall Gleeson (Dredd), John Boyega (Attack the Block), Daisy Ridley (Silent Witness), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave) and Max von Sydow (The Exorcist).
