Suicide Squad finds its Harley Quinn in Margot Robbie

November 10, 2014 by James Garcia

Last month, shortly after David Ayer’s Suicide Squad movie was officially announced as part of Warner Brothers’ massive DC Comics film slate, a report came out saying that the studio had already approached four actors for roles. Those actors were Will Smith, Tom Hardy, Ryan Gosling, and Margot Robbie. While we have yet to hear updates about most of the names on that list, we have finally heard something incredibly exciting: Margot Robbie is going to play Harley Quinn.

The news comes from Collider, a source that’s not official but has a pretty good track record with announcements like this. According to their sources, The Wolf of Wall Street actress is on board to play Quinn, a fan-favorite character who’ll be getting her big screen debut with Suicide Squad.

This announcement is timed perfectly with the recent report suggesting that the studio is eyeing Dallas Buyers Club actor Jared Leto for the part of the Joker, Harley’s longtime love interest. Now let’s hope that the other pieces fall into place and that the film’s various other villain roles are made official.

Tell us, are you excited to hear that Margot Robbie will play Harley Quinn? Sound off in the comments.

Directed by David Ayer, Suicide Squad is set to hit theaters on August 5, 2016.
