Paddington holds on to top spot at the UK box office

UK box office top ten and analysis for the weekend of Friday 6th to Sunday 8th December 2014…

Paddington made it two weeks in a row at the top of the UK box office, with the live-action / CG hybrid pulling in £3.84 million in its second weekend.

The highest new entry of the weekend was DreamWorks Animation’s Madagascar spin-off Penguins of Madagascar, which debuted with £1,575,949.

British festive comedy Get Santa opened in seventh place with £576,722, followed by St. Vincent in ninth with £389,136, and the Jude Law-headlined submarine thriller Black Sea in tenth with £246,309.

Peter Jackson takes us back to Middle-earth for the final time this Friday with the release of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (cert. 12A), while other newcomers include Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast (cert. U), Face of Love (cert. 12A), The Snow Queen: Magic of the Mirror (cert. U) and We Still Kill The Old Way (cert. 18).
