It’s been said that next year’s X-Men: Apocalypse will mark the end of a “trilogy” of movies centred around the X-Men: First Class line-up, and Nicholas Hoult has confirmed that his current contract is up after Apocalypse, but he’s keen to sign on for more X-Men adventures as Dr. Hank McCoy / Beast.
“This is the last one I’m signed up for,” Hoult tells E! Online during an interview at SXSW. “The first one did so well and [X-Men: Days of Future Past] got received so brilliantly. It’s like, ‘Wow, people really want to see the films’ and the best thing is it’s a great crew and cast to work with and he’s a fun character. I have a good time playing him so I’d keep making them.”
Seeing as X-Men: Apocalypse is set to reintroduce a host of X-Men characters as younger incarnations, you’d have to imagine Fox has plenty of plans for the First Class cast moving forward, assuming that is that the likes of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence are as keen as Hoult to extend their time in the X-Men universe.
X-Men: Apocalypse is set for release on May 19th, 2016 and stars X-Men veterans James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Evan Peters (Quicksilver) and Rose Byrne (Moira MacTaggert) alongside Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) as Apocalypse, Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan (Mud) as Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp (House of Anubis) as Storm and Kodi Smit-McPhee (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Nightcrawler.
