Ryan Reynolds wants to return as Deadpool for X-Force movie

July 18, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Almost two years ago to the day, it was announced that Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2) had signed on to write the script for an X-Men spinoff movie based around the team of X-Force. Since that time, Fox has pressed ahead with two other spinoffs in Deadpool and Gambit, as well as hiring Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) to develop a New Mutants movie, leaving X-Force somewhat up in the air.

However, while the status of the movie is unclear, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds is hoping he gets the opportunity to return as the Merc with a Mouth as part of the ensemble, with the actor telling Comic Book that:

“I always see Deadpool running against the grain for everything he does. He can’t possibly conform to any sort of leadership role. He always has to be the wild card. So you’d have to have someone like Cable running point on a team like X-Force. I’d love for that to be a next step that we take.”

Given that Fox has granted Deadpool an R-rating, it would appear pretty safe to assume that any team-up movie featuring the character in a major capacity would also need that rating, so perhaps Fox is waiting to see how the Februrary 2016 spinoff fares at the box office before giving X-Force the green light.

Would you like to see Deadpool and Cable sharing the screen in an X-Force movie? Let us know in the comments below…
